He first came to notice as a member of the manufactured pop group S Club Juniors (the group changed its name to S Club 8 after S Club 7 split up). He was born in Great Yarmouth to parents Stephen and Caroline Goldspink, he also has a younger brother called Jamie (James) who is two years younger. Aged six he moved with his family to Peterculter, a suburb of Aberdeen. For three years running, Goldspink won the Popjustice readers' poll award for "Most Inappropriately Fanciable Popstar".
